Review: Cosmopolitan Hotel – Dubai - Great Stay

I took a chance and booked a 6 night stay at Cosmopolitan Hotel based on pictures and reviews and it was a good chance to take. I booked 7 more nights at the completion of the first six so I stayed a total of 13 nights. When I arrived there was a security guard near the curb. He insisted on taking my luggage inside. I was greeted very warmly by Cecelia at Reception. She was very efficient with checking me in and gracious in letting me know that my room wasn't quite ready yet. I was upgraded to an Executive Suite the first six nights which was really nice considering I had never stayed at this hotel before. Olga was another person at reception that was very welcoming during my stay. She always greeted me with a smile and I had a very pleasant interaction with her when I went down to ask about the laundry service. James was very nice. He came and got my shoulder bag while I checked in and he was very pleasant helping me to my room when I returned to the hotel. He was also very helpful the day of my check-in / checkout. Housekeeping was very polite. I keep my Do Not Disturb on the door but when they would pass me in the hall they always made sure to ask if I needed anything.

There was one little inconvenience with my room transition. I called down the morning I was to checkout / check-in and Jamelia told me that I would not be able to check back in until 2:00. When I went down at 12:00 to check out Cecelia was working and thankfully she didn't want me to be inconvenienced so she made arrangements for me to check into a different room immediately. I checked into my King Deluxe room and it was still very comfortable even though it was smaller than the Executive Suite. Both rooms had a microwave & mini fridge which I love for having leftovers in the event I don't want to go out. The beds and pillows were comfortable.

LOCATION: It's a 5 to 10 minute walk to Sharaf DG Metro station depending on your pace. Easy access to the Metro allows for easy / cheap access to the rest of the city. Mall of Emirates is one stop down on the Metro or a 20 minute walk if you want to get some steps in for the day.

2019/11/02LOVELY STAFF - This is my second review of this hotel. I stayed here three weeks in 2017 and I came back for a two week stay this year. I was surprised that when I walked up James instantly remembered me. Shirin was so delightful when checking me in and when I talked to her about me possibly being late for checkout. Over the next couple of days I ran into Colette and Duncan who also remembered me from my previous visit. Anum & Danhill were my room attendants. They were always kind and making sure I had anything I needed replenished. I had some wifi issues this visit and the IT guy that came to my room was really nice and worked hard to get my internet issues resolved. Katarina was very patient and kind when I went down to complain about the wifi issues and ask about changing my room type to a double bed because a friend was coming to town and wanted to stay with me. Tarek always had a friendly smile to greet me when I was returning to the hotel. It felt like I spend two weeks with family instead of two weeks in a hotel. The room quality is still very good and clean. I love that they offer a mini refrigerator and a microwave because I tend to stay in and work for a couple of days at a time and this allows me to have food available in my room. There is plenty of drawer and closet space. I only took a star away because of the wifi issues. With me working online consistent wifi is important.

2019/11/09 – The IT guy that came to my room was really nice and worked hard to get my internet issues resolved. 11/7/2019 Katarina was very good when I went down to complain about the wifi issues and ask about the room type. She told me this was a standard size bed, so they don’t have king size beds. She said they could change me to a double bed no problem just let them know a day or two before. The IT manager came to my room and got my MAC address for my phone and computer to resolve my connectivity issues. They were able to accommodate me moving to a twin room when a friend made a last minute booking to come to Dubai and stay with me.
