Review: Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala - Great Staff & Location
This hotel was a great choice for my introduction to Kampala. It is located in the Kololo area where a majority of the nice restaurants are located. The main road off the hotel is also the happening spot for nightlife with a lot of bars to check out.
My check-in was great. Samuel was very efficient and welcoming. He also did my checkout and was apologetic about the elevator being out during my stay. I like high floor rooms so they put me on the 3rd floor but I would have adjusted that request if I would have known the elevator was down. One night they had live entertainment and it was loud for me in my room until it was over at 10pm.
The grounds of the hotel are nice, but it’s very compact. The reception staff and the porters (bellman) were very welcoming and pleasant. The room and the bathroom was very spacious and comfortable. I ate in the restaurant one night. The food was delicious, but my dinner was interrupted by a roach that I couldn’t get rid of that kept crawling on my table.
